The Komarna wine region, the youngest wine region in Croatia, is located in Dubrovnik-Neretva County and was formed through the reclamation of karst terrain. The first vines were planted in 2008. On 82 hectares of land, seven winemakers have established their vineyards. There are only two winery currently located in the region. The establishment of additional wineries and wine roads connecting the entire area is expected soon. The grapevine varieties planted in the region are made up of 92% indigenous Dalmatian varieties, with Plavac Mali and Pošip being the most represented.
